History and Education

Are you looking for a Dance Studio with history? Hill-Top Dance Center was founded in 1951 by "Miss Nelda" Hill and has enjoyed the reputation of producing exceptional dancers for over 50 years now. The studio is now owned and operated by her daughter "Miss" Tauna Hill Keltner. Miss Tauna is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City and holds a B.A in Dance Education.

Five, six, seven, eight........

Hill-Top is a performance studio. What does that mean? When you go visit a dance studio do you notice a hundred trophies on display? That means you are at a competition studio. Nothing wrong with that. Hill-Top focuses on performance instead. It's just a choice Miss Nelda made a long time ago. She believed in it so much that she founded the Kansas City Dance Theatre Company in 1985 and each year the KCDTC holds an open audition for any dancer in KC to join. The KCDTC performs the Nutcracker Ballet for Children, The Wizard of Oz or a Spring Concert in alternating years. Miss Nelda believed that the more time a dancer spends on stage, the better the dancer and its more fun too!
